AYDF – International Youth Dance Showcase 2019

Youth dance companies attending AYDF are invited to propose a ten-minute work for presentation at AYDF for an International Youth Dance Showcase.

Celebrating the very first international youth dance festival in Australia, this is an exclusive evening of curated performance showcasing youth dance companies from around the world. This showcase will be held at Melbourne's iconic contemporary arts venue, the Meat Market.

We invite Australian and international youth dance companies to apply to be part of this exciting event.

*DEADLINE EXTENDED*Applications due 5pm (AEST) Monday 15 October. Successful applicants will be notified by November 2018.


ELIGIBILITY

  • Applications are open to professional youth dance companies with a history of creating work collaboratively with young people

  • The choreographer of the work may be a professional artist or a young artist

  • Touring performance group is limited to up to 10 dancers

  • Touring performance groups must include one member to be present in the role of director for the entire showcase schedule (to lead technical rehearsal, etc)

  • All members of the performance group must register to attend as participants of AYDF2019

GUIDELINES

  • The work must be based in contemporary dance

  • The work must be created collaboratively using contemporary dance practice and processes – with the young people who will perform it in Melbourne

  • The work must not be longer than 10 minutes

If the work your company creates falls outside these guidelines, there are other opportunities for you to perform in AYDF2019.

Performance space: Approximately 12m x 12m
Please note that production elements will be simple. There will be a limit of 10 lighting cues per work.


Please note: There are limited places to present in the Showcase. AYDF International 2019 will include other opportunities for performance. Information will be made available late 2018.
